Pink and white ombre nails have been increasingly popular – and it looks like the trend is here to stay.
Also referred to as “boomer nails” or “french fade nails,” pink and white ombre nails are a modern twist on the classic french manicure.

While a traditional french manicure starts with a pink base and ends with a contrasting white stripe, the french fade gently blends pink and white into a subtle gradient effect.
In this guide, we’ll start with inspiration photos that you can show your manicurist to get the boomer nail look. The second half of this guide will describe the various ways you can recreate the look at home.
Pink and White Ombre Nails
Let’s start with inspiration photos for the french fade mani. I love that this is such a minimalistic look, but you can really add your own twist on it. It looks great with any shaped nail: almond, coffin, stiletto, square, short or long. You can use different shades of pink and white, add glitter or accents, or even reverse the colors.
1. Neutral Pink Nails

I love the fierce shape of stiletto nails and the pink and white ombre effect is perfect with it. I love how this mani has a more neutral shade of pink, rather than a bubble gum pink color. It makes it look more natural since the long stiletto shape already packs a punch.
2. Reverse Ombre Effect

I absolutely LOVE these reverse ombre nails. They begin with a bright white at the base and gradually turn into a pretty bubblegum pink.
3. Hot Pink Reverse Ombre

Here is another reverse ombre look that is stunning. The white has purplish undertones and it turns into a shade of hot pink. This is a bold twist on the french fade, which aims to look more natural. I think this is the perfect mani for summertime.
4. Matte Ombre

These ballerina-shaped nails are perfection. They are the classic french fade, which aims to look more natural. The matte coat gives them extra oomph.
5. Almond Shaped

I love “boomer nails’ in an almond shape. I love the shade of pink they chose here. It’s more of a true pink rather than a neutral pink. This is such a polished look.
6. Coffin Shaped

Coffin nails are one of the trendiest shapes right now. I think this style looks great with this shape.
7. Short Square
You can go with a pink and white ombre mani with short nails, too.

8. High Gloss
Add a high gloss top coat for an extra bold look.

9. Add Accents

Even though the french fade manicure tends to be more of a minimal look, you can add accents or glitter to make it pop.
DIY Pink and White Ombre Nails
There are a few ways you can create this look at home. We’ll talk about gel manicure, nail wrap options, and press-on nails.
How to Create Pink and White Ombre Nails at Home
I’ve watched a ton of videos on how to create this look at home, and this video is by far the BEST one to follow. She uses gel nail polish and acrylic white paint to pull this off flawlessly.
French Fade Press-on Nails
I’ve also found a couple great options for pink and white ombre nail press-ons.

The above set is Mademoiselle Almond by Static Nails. The reviewer mentioned she clipped and filed them a bit shorter.
Etsy also has a collection of custom press-on nails in this style as well.
“Boomer Nails” Nail Wraps
I have become obsessed with nail wraps. Color Street is the most popular brand that offers them, but other brands have popped up recently as well.
The nail wraps shown below are from a small business on Etsy, and she receives a ton of great reviews. You can get these pink and ombre nails in glitter as well.

How do you like the french fade manicure? Is this something you have your manicurist do for you, or is this something you tackle on your own? I’d love to see pictures in the comments!
